Arnica is my first go-to Remedy for traumatized animals. Arnica is for injuries without evidence. Does that make sense? It is used for strains, sprains, overexertion. Discovered in the Alps when humans noticed hillside animals after an accident or injury sought out Arnica and roll in it, chew it, hang out near it until able to move on. (DO NOT EAT ARNICA! OR PUT ANY FORM OF IT ON AN OPEN WOUND!) Remember, Essences are Flower water and contain infinitesmal amounts of the plant - so minute they are undetactable in most cases... one of the things I love most that this confounds scientists when they want to dissect, analyze, and argue with the very visible, positive results.
For our animals, we are talking about emotional bruising and negative memories stored in the body; inconveniently 'coming to life' when new requests are made that trigger negative past experiences. Simple requests complicated by past trauma and stress. These are the unpredicatable animals or overly reactive who seem to have trouble calming down after an incident. Arnica should be their go-to Remedy for restoring or establishing impulse control.
