ATHENA and JESUS
This precious 4 year old Girl already loved all animals deeply. Horses were hands-down favorites. On Easter Sunday, she got the news that her favorite Horse, Athena, had become suddenly ill and passed away. Our young girl got the sad news just before Easter services and had little time to recover.
In church, the preaching grew louder and louder. Previously lost in thought about Athena, she started to pay attention to the words from the pulpit. Now she heard the message about the death of her well-loved Jesus.
Her startled response was much louder than expected:
"What? Jesus is dead?"
The congregation grew quiet with her words. Then, with a huge exasperated exhale, she blurted out:
"Oh sheeeeesh! What a day. First Athena. And now Jesus."
