Loveable Goomba

Loveable Goomba

Retrievers are unique and my friend had one of the most unique. He was a bit goofey. And that is being polite. He would bark at objects he saw every day. He would go overboard when a delivery person came in the yard. He could never be trusted to not run away. He also did not play well with others, getting notes sent home from doggy day care with threats of expulsion. He was never off-leash. And he could not be trusted with strangers and cats. Ever.

I was at her house for a week and decided to press forward against her non-belief and go directly to the dog. This Retriever’s face had an odd shape. His eyes were very small for his size and widely spaced. They were beady and the color was opaque. There was no bone protruding as a slight mantle or oval above the eyes. His face just sloped. And he had no bump at the top of his head as I have grown to expect from Retrievers of all kinds.

He got Essences for my week’s stay and showed improvement every day. Wonderful improvement. He could not recite the Gettysburg Address but he showed less reaction with delivery trucks, more patience with strangers and no complaints from doggy day care for the next full month. The blend is called CONFIDENCE.

That’s when I went back to visit. I did not expect my scientist friend to continue giving the Essences but I wanted to see what our week had accomplished. He was awesome. Patient. Polite. Looked you in the eyes however briefly. That’s when I noticed the physical differences. His eyes had focus and clarity, a depth of expression that had not been there before. And above the eyes, there was a brow. Physically. Like bone had grown there out of clay to a sculptor’s delight. And between the eyes there was a soft valley of indentation, no wider than a pencil. Following that indentation up between the eyes, giving the dog an air of curious intelligence, was a bump on the top of his head. The Retriever bump. Ask the owner. She was there. She acknowledged the physical change in his bone structure in just one month. However, when talking of him and his behavioral improvement; she says he simply “matured” a lot the week I happened to be there.
